Whether you’re looking for a more budget-friendly used car or something reliable or harder to find, you might want to consider discontinued cars. Some of the best used cars Boise offers are discontinued models. All good things come to an end, and many of these were good cars but had declining sales. But that doesn’t mean these cars are “bad” by any means! Discontinued cars can still be excellent purchases if you know what to look for. Here are a few you might find at a used car dealer in the Treasure Valley.
Ford Focus
Unveiled in 1999, this economy car quickly became known around the world. It had an impressive suspension, was lightweight, and had the latest styling at the time. From sedans and wagons to hatchbacks and hybrids, Ford has decided to phase out nearly all of their passenger cars in favor of SUVs and trucks in 2025. The compact had a nearly two-decade run, and it’s an excellent choice if you are looking for an older but still respectable car.
Chevy Cruze
Despite being popular, Chevrolet only produced the Cruze for 8 years. The Cruze was meant to be an affordable, safe, fun-to-drive compact. When you head to one of the best used car dealerships Boise offers, look for both the modern-looking sedan and the sporty hatchback. Both feature comfort combined with exceptional fuel economy. Compact sedans waned in popularity, causing Chevy to discontinue the Cruze in North America in 2019. If you are looking for a reliable, enjoyable compact with excellent gas mileage, not to mention a great infotainment system, you’ll get great value out of a Cruze.
Hyundai Accent
The Hyundai Accent was a fantastic sedan available since 2002 and set to be discontinued after 2023. It was dependable, great on gas, and affordable. You can still find affordable Accents. It was even named the 2021 best subcompact car for the money by U.S. News. Like many other manufacturers, Hyundai decided to expand its SUV lineup, focusing on models like the Venue while producing other sedans such as the Elantra.
Jeep Liberty
The Jeep Liberty made its debut in 2002 but was discontinued in 2012. The Liberty offers a comfortable ride with classic looks, but the widely popular Cherokee would not be dethroned. Produced for just a decade, the Liberty still found fans. It was a fun alternative to the traditional family car.
Honda Insight
The Honda Insight is still technically in production, but the modern Insight is still quite different from the old Insight. The old incarnation was a hybrid electric two-seater that debuted in 1999. At the time, it had the best fuel efficiency of any gas-powered car in the U.S. Despite being the first hybrid sold in the States, it wasn’t the most popular. That Insight, not to be confused with the one that looks like a Prius, was discontinued in 2014. It’s getting harder to find, but still worth looking for if you want a good, used hybrid. The modern Honda Insight is set to be discontinued after 2023.
